Item #6608

Epiphone Recording Concert Special Model Plectrum Banjo, c. 1927, made in Long Island City, NY, blonde lacquer and celluloid finish, laminated maple rim, white holly neck and resonator, original brown hard shell case.

Overall length is 38 1/4 in. (97.2 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter head, and 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 27 in. (686 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/8 in. (29 mm.). This banjo is in spectacularly well preserved condition; there are no alterations except for a modern semi-frosted head and one of the internal washers for the co-ordinator system has been replaced. There is some shrinkage to the fingerboard binding and tiny cracks at the fret ends, but no deterioration. Other than this there is only light play wear; some finish worn from the treble side of the fingerboard, a little paint gone from the fingerboard engraving and some plating worn off the armrest. This is one of the cleanest and most original high-end 1920's banjos we have had the pleasure to offer, an excellent player with the expected superb sound, complete with the original case. Excellent - Condition.
