Epiphone FT-79 Texan Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1964), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 203745, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.

The "Guitar of Yesterday"! The Epiphone Texan will forever be remembered as Paul McCartney's instrument of choice for writing, recording and performing that particular tune, and many others besides. The Texan is the 1960's Epi-brand version of the Gibson J-50 with several mostly cosmetic differences, but one major structural change- a longer 25 1-4" scale length. This particular Texan is from the same year and identical specs to Paul's actual Beatle guitar, not the easiest thing to find. These include the "Thin" Epiphone headstock with pearl inlay, pearl trapezoid block fingerboard inlay and the adjustable ceramic-saddle rosewood bridge. This guitar offers a lovely slightly dry, woody sound instantly recognizable from many Beatle recordings, and other '60's records as well. McCartney played his live on the Ed Sullivan show in 1965, while most of us will never get a gig like that thig guitar would be a fine choice for many performing and recording situations!

Overall length is 42 in. (106.7 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/4 in. (641 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Super clean overall-the finish is still shiny with just a bit of wear to the top under the pickguard. The bridge is an exact NOS replacement with the original ceramic saddle, with a cleanly replaced bridgeplate underneath-the top is nice and flat and the neck angle is excellent-this one will not need a neckset! There is a strap button added to the heel and an endpin jack fitted, but no pickup is currently installed. This is a truly fine playing and sounding guitar, one of the nicest Texans we have had. Excellent Condition.
