Epiphone E-452TD Sorrento Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1962), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, "Argentine Grey" lacquer finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.

When Gibson began producing guitars under the Epiphone brand name in 1959, many of the instruments were similar to various production Gibson-brand guitars.

The Sorrento is an interesting case. Although the overall shape and look are similar to Gibson's Es-125TD, the Sorrento carries higher grade fittings -- mini humbucking pickups, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, and keystone-button Kluson deluxe tuners. This makes for a unique package in a thin-body double pickup guitar with excellent handling characteristics and a very versatile sound. Additionally, this example is in the rare (and somewhat greenish) "Argentine Grey" finish that was an option at the time.

This is a very cool and eminently playable guitar that offers a unique roster of features in a most happy combination!

Overall length is 40 7/8 in. (103.8 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 13/16 in. (4.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

A lovely original guitar with just some light wear and checking overall.

The neck has been reset and there is some small touch up around the edges, but overall a clean job. The angle is now excellent, and the frets are cleanly polished out, as well making this an exceptional player. All original except for an added strap button above the heel.

A very fine and interesting early Kalamazoo-made Epiphone. Excellent Condition.
