Epiphone Coronet Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1963), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Silver Fox finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex soft shell case.
The Epiphone version of the SG Junior, the Coronet remains an unexploited treasure in the the Kalamazoo/Epi fold. With the sonic characteristics of the Junior on a slightly more Fender-like body, the Coronet is a very comfortable and powerful sounding little guitar. This example is in the rare "Grey Fox" finish, actually a sort of greenish-tinged mahogany with a lighter grain filler. This was a catalog option, but in practice must have been ordered infrequently as examples like this are not often seen. A neat and very functional early-'60's Epiphone solidbody.
Overall length is 38 3/4 in. (98.4 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/8 in. (3.5 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Very nice overall except for a noticeable repair to the body (not the neck) in the neck heel area-solid, but visible. Fairly clean overall with a nice, unfaded finish. Set up with an old Badass intonatable bridge. The Kluson tuners are the correct integral strip style, but carry Safe-T-Slot string posts so are likely not original to this guitar. Missing the center inserts from the tone and volume knobs. Very good sound, a nice player's example of a fairly rare Epiphone Coronet variation. Overall Very Good + Condition.
