Fretless Model 5 String Banjo, probably Dobson, c. 1870's, made in N.Y. City, natural finish, laminated maple/rosewood rim; rosewood neck with Corian fingerboard.
 
Overall length is 35 in. (88.9 cm.), 11 1/2 in. (29.2 cm.) diameter head, and 3 in. (7.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/8 in. (35 mm.).

Reshaped headstock with geared tuners; Corian fingerboard added. Original 19th Century rim hardware, plastic head, and newer No-Knot tailpiece. Generally Excellent Condition.
