Item #3356

Dobro Style 37 Squareneck Model Resophonic Guitar, c. 1939, made in Chicago, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated mahogany body. Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

A relatively late Chicago-made Dobro from soon before the Second World War, the end of the original National/Dobro era. This squareneck has the top, back, and neck bound, a solid peghead with Dobro logo decal, and openback Kluson tuners with plastic buttons. This is a very nice example of National/Dobro's Chicago era production and a fine-playing and sounding Dobro.

Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 14 1/8 in. (35.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

Very clean original condition; little sign of use and no modifications. A really nice pre-WWII squareneck. Excellent + Condition.
