Item #9580
DeArmond FH-C Guitar Mike Model Archtop Guitar Pickup (1940s), made in Toledo, Ohio, chrome finish.
Overall length is 9 7/8 in. (25.1 cm.), 5 1/2 in. (14 cm.) across at the widest point.
This is a nice early example of DeArmond's first classic archtop guitar pickup, the FH-C "Guitar Mike" dating to the 1940's or very early '50s. This first models have no slots in the coil cover and the output cord hardwired to the box. They are relatively rare compared to the later 1950s and 60s models which were produced in much larger quantity.
There is some general wear, most notable on the crossbar and studs used to mount it to the tailpiece. Some chrome worn off the "stick" where it clears the bridge from hand contact and there is minor corrosion on the strain relief spring coming off the coil. The cord coming off the box is newer, all else appears original including the early style "Radio" knob. This is the coolest if not most practical version of this all-time classic pickup (due to the non-removable cord) but everything works as intended and it sounds great as they all do! Overall Excellent - Condition.
