Item #5870
Dave Of England Zemaitis Heart-Hole style Model Concert Ukulele (2007), made in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, natural finish, maple body, spruce top, mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, original black hard shell case.
This striking and very rare modern concert-size uke is the product of "Dave Of England" the self-proclaimed official "Keeper of the jigs and protector of the patterns' for the late Tony Zemaitis, England's most celebrated 1970's guitar builder. Dave Brewis and luthier Kevin Parsons collaborate on the instruments (mostly guitars) with this brand. They are individually hand built to order by Parsons in Newcastle, UK in very limited numbers. The styling is consistent with Zemaitis' original handmade instruments, which were popular with English rockstar types in the 1970's and '80's and extremely sought-after worldwide today.
This ukulele with Tony Zemaitis' trademark heart-shaped soundhole (seen on many of his flat-top guitars) is beautifully made, to a unique design. The first uke of this type was made for George Harrison; few have been made since as Dave's mostly concentrate their very limited output on solidbody electric guitars. It is beautifully built and finished and the closest thing the world will ever see to an authentic Zemaitis ukulele!
Overall length is 24 in. (61 cm.), 8 1/2 in. (21.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 15 1/2 in. (394 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/2 in. (38 mm.). This has been in its hardshell case since new, practically untouched. As close to mint as a 'used' instrument gets! Near Mint Condition.
