Item #6124

Silvertone Model 1357 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar, made by Danelectro (1954), made in Red Bank, NJ, maroon vinyl finish, poplar body, aluminimum core neck, rosewood fingerboard, original blond chipboard case.

A spectacular example of the earliest style solid body made by Danelectro for Sears in 1954. These are quite rare guitars, having been built for only about a year and offered both under the Silvertone name and Danelectro brand. This model has a number of unusual features, including the plastic covered (pre-lipstick tube) pickup and unusual aluminum core neck-into-body construction, which were changed in 1955 when Nathan Daniel developed the familiar Masonite-bodied Danelectros known and loved since then. This is a super cool Dann-o collectible and a surprisingly fine-sounding, if eccentric, guitar!

Overall length is 37 1/2 in. (95.2 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

Very fine overall -- the best of this model we have ever seen. The plastic jackplate has been replaced (long ago by the look of it, with a piece of heavier white plastic); everything else is original. Light wear overall; one chip through the vinyl on the bottom edge, but otherwise only very light scuffs. Includes the original chip case. Overall Excellent - Condition.
