Danelectro Deluxe Model #6038 Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1960), made in Neptune, NJ, "Honey Walnut" woodgrain with white vinyl edging finish, masonite and pine body, poplar neck with rosewood fingerboard, original grey hard shell case.

A very rare Danelectro, this 3-pickup Model #6038 guitar was at the top of the company's product offerings. The "Deluxe" models were initially offered in 1, 2 or 3 pickup models in three different finishes and along with the iconic Longhorn were the most expensive guitars from Neptune. Very few of these "Deluxe" models were sold in any configuration, and the 3-pickup model is especially hard to find. The sound combinations are very flexible, with each pickup having an individual on/off flipper switch and a volume control along with a master volume. The pickups are pre-tuned for frequency response with capacitors wired to the pots, in the same manner as the Longhorns. The Deluxe models were one of Nathan Daniel's coolest creations, but are pretty much forgotten, lost between the less expensive and highly successful Standard Models and the flashier Longhorn.

Overall length is 38 1/2 in. (97.8 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). All original finish and hardware, some medium/light wear overall. The only repair is a very old 2 1/2" crack down the center on the back of the neck between the first and third frets-fully sealed long ago with no finish touch up and fully stable. Some areas of plastic binding missing on the back but nothing that affects the guitar in structure or playability. This is in fact one of the best-playing Danelectros we have had, with an excellent sound as well. Includes the rare original Masonite HSC. Overall Very Good + Condition.
