Danelectro Deluxe Model #6027 Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1962), made in Neptune, NJ, woodgrain and cream tolex finish, masonite and pine body, poplar neck with rosewood fingerboard, black gig bag case.
One of the rarest and coolest of all production Danelectros, the "Deluxe" model was the company's fanciest guitar in the early 1960's. Introduced in 1959, this guitar uses the same body, pickups, and neck as the celebrated U-2 "Jimmy Page" model but with much fancier cosmetics and trim. The Brown walnut-finished top has a contrasting bound edge and white Masonite glued-on pickguard; the white lacquer-finished neck has the typical rosewood fingerboard and individual Kluson Deluxe tuners.
The Deluxe also features the more elaborate Longhorn-style electronics circuit, with "flipper" controls atop concentric pots, and the pickups pre-wired for tone. This 1962 model features the additions of the "Totally Shielded" wiring, neck tilt adjustor (with a rare Supro-like protective cap soon abandoned), and a master volume control. This model is rarely seen, as the more affordable "Standard" model (at all of $20.00 less) outsold the similar Deluxe by a huge margin. This is a great-playing, sounding, and seldom seen piece of Neptune cool.
Overall length is 38 7/8 in. (98.7 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
Very clean overall with only some very light wear and some small finish dings and chips, mostly to the painted headstock. The "lipstick" tube cover on the treble pickup has a small split; this does not affect function but is visible. The guitar has had over 50 years with no changes, mods, or even a lot of use -- even the nearly always missing wooden "flipper" controls are intact and working. A very nice example of this cool Danno rarity. Excellent Condition.
