C. F. Martin Style A Shaded Top Model Flat Back, Bent Top Mandolin (1935), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 15849, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, ebony fingerboard, original black chipboard case.
Overall length is 23 3/4 in. (60.3 cm.), 9 5/8 in. (24.4 cm.) body width, and 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 13 1/8 in. (333 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). Structurally excellent; appears to have been exposed to moisture long ago resulting in some finish tarnish, checking and small areas of loss. Very good sound, a bit scruffy looking but a great vibe. One of the best sounding Martin Style A mandolins we have heard. Very Good Condition.
