Item #6499
C. F. Martin R-18T Model Arch Top Acoustic Tenor Guitar (1937), made in Nazareth, PA, sunburst top, natural back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black chipboard case.
Overall length is 36 7/8 in. (93.7 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 23 in. (584 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). Thie is a very well-used guitar; but still in very good playing condition. There are signs of wear all over the instrument, especially to the top finish. The most notable spot is an area of missing finish down to the wood by the treble side of the fingerboard; this may be the result of celluloid deterioration as there is no scraping evident and there are several smaller spots corresponding to where the pickguard once rested. There are small dings and scratches overall, but no major damage or repair. The instrument is all original except the pickguard and mounting bracket are missing. A very nice playing tenor guitar with a very good straight neck and no excessive fret wear, and definitely one of the most affordable of prewar Martins! Very Good + Condition.
