C. F. Martin D-41 1935 Sunburst Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022), made in Nazareth, PA, sunburst top, natural back and sides finish, Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
This very striking modern Dreadnought is Martin's recently launched D-41 "1935 Sunburst" model, decked out with what the team in Nazareth used to call a "shade top" finish. This darker look really spotlights the Abalone Pearl trim around the Sitka Spruce top and along the rosette. The back and sides are Indian Rosewood with Style 45 back purfling. The Sitka spruce top is constructed with the old-style forward shifted X bracing.
The mahogany neck is built with what Martin terms the "modified low oval neck profile with high-performance taper" featuring an Antique White bound ebony fingerboard with abalone reduced hexagon inlays and a 1930s 1 3/4" nut width. The headstock is rosewood faced, bound and inlaid with the C.F. Martin logo in richly colored Abalone. It mounts open back Gold Grover 1930s style tuners with butterbean knobs. This is a very fine sounding modern Dreadnought powerful well balanced and articulate and visually a real stunner.
Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 15 5/8 in. (39.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 13/16 in. (12.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/4 in. (641 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This dazzling guitar appears hardly used at all, showing just light handling marks and no damage or repair. It plays perfectly and sounds fabulous, with a deep but well-balanced tone with more sing than many modern dreadnoughts. It is housed in the burgundy lined original hard case with the hang tag and care & feeding booklet included. Near Mint Condition.
