Item #8021
C. F. Martin D-28 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1971), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 284517, natural finish, rosewood back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
A clean guitar overall; all original with some light wear marks here and there, but an excellent player for this era. There is a spot on the back of the neck where a capo was left on too long behind the second fret and burned into the finish just a bit. The original owner marked their name and ancillary information on the backstrip inside the body. The bridge has been tweaked for proper intonation (a sore point on many early '70s D-28s) and this is an excellent playing example with a better action than many. Includes a nice (and heavy!) Tolex-covered case that everyone at the time wanted instead of the molded blue plastic one Martin was just switching to. Excellent Condition.
