Item #4141
C. F. Martin D-21 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1962), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, black tolex hard shell case.
All we can say on this one is WOW...a fantastic-sounding, super clean, early 60's D-21. As our Uncle Buck says, "What's not to like?"
The D-21 is Martin's most overlooked guitar...basically style-18 cosmetics on a Brazilian rosewood D-28. Some old guitarhounds insist that the D-21 is actually the best-sounding of all postwar dreadnoughts; something about the combination of the rosewood body and the narrower binding channel at the edge of the top. Fact or voodoo? We're not sure, but we have heard some really spectacular examples of this model -- and here's another one!
Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 15 5/8 in. (39.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.).
All original, fantastic finish with only very light play wear and some typical checking. Perfect refret with original style wire; a primo early 60's Martin Dreadnought in perfect playing condition. Excellent + Condition.
