Item #7975
C. F. Martin D-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1975), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 368800, sunburst top, natural back and sides finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original molded blue plastic hard shell case.
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This is a nice example of a 1975 D-18 in a comparatively rare sunburst finish, something Martin only did on order in that periodwell basically they only EVER did sunbursts on demand, but they are quite uncommon in the '70's. The guitar shows light play wear, with dings and scratches on the middle of the back and some small dings to the top mostly around the bottom edge. The pickguard has been replaced, as is common with this vintage-the original black acetate 'guards have often curled up dramatically over time. A very tightly sealed grain crack at the top edge of the guard is the only visible repair.
The bridge looks to have been lowered just a bit, and since then a clean neckset has been performed making this a very good player. There is a strap button added at the heel. This is a nice sounding '70's Martin with a brighter sound than many and a cool and unusual look, more "vintage-y" than the average 70's Dreadnought. Includes the original molded blue plastic HSC. Excellent + Condition.
