C. F. Martin D-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1975), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 365041, sunburst top, natural back and sides finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original molded blue plastic hard shell case.
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This is a super nice example of a 1975 D-18 in a comparatively rare sunburst finish, something Martin only did on order in that period; well basically they only EVER did sunbursts on demand, and they are not at all common in the '70's. 1975 was the first year in some time they actually advertised the sunburst top as a "no-extra-cost" option.
The guitar shows just very light play wear, with some random tiny dings and scratches to the finish but no really notable wear. The pickguard has never been replaced as has often happened with this Martins of this vintage. The original black acetate 'guard survived unusually intact, shrunken just a bit but not peeling up at the edges. The guitar is also completely crack free.
A clean neckset has been performed using the original uncut bridge making this an excellent good player. There are no alterations to the instrument, not even a strap button added at the heel. This is a superb sounding '70's Martin with a brighter sound than many and a cool and unusual look, more "vintage-y" than the standard 70's Dreadnought. This is really one of the nicest '70s Martins we have ever had, complete the original molded blue plastic HSC with an amazing package of paperwork inclosing the original store receipt, a pile of promo materials and a letter from Martin confirming the warranty registration signed by Frank Henry Martin. Overall Excellent + Condition.
