C. F. Martin D-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1973), made in Nazareth, PA, natural finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original molded blue plastic hard shell case.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This very clean D-18 dates to the early 1970s, when Martin Dreadnoughts ruled the roost as the most sought-after acoustic guitars in the world. It was made in 1973 and is thus 49 years old, showing very little wear at all, mostly some minor scuffing and a small strep burn spot on the back. There has never even been a strap button added to the heel; there is an old music store sticker under the soundhole.

There are no alterations except the pickguard is a correct-style replacement; most of the original black acetate 'guards have curled into potato chip-like shapes by now so this is almost unavoidable. The original bridge is intact but has been rounded off a bit and notched in front of the pins. Even the bridge pins look original. There are no cracks anywhere on this closet queen, which is still waiting to be seriously played closing in on 50 years on! This better-than average example includes the original blue molded Martin case. Overall Excellent Condition.
