Item #3068

C. F. Martin D-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1966), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

Just past celebrating its 40th birthday, this D-18 is very well-preserved and ready for the next 40!

Typical mid-60's features including Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with varied pearl dot inlay, short-saddle Brazilian bridge, patent pending Grover Rotomatic tuners, and black plastic binding. The pickguard was also originally black, but the early black 'guards are prone to severe shrinkage, and this guitar has a replacement of tortoise plastic.

1960's D-18's were made in fairly large numbers, but many have been very well used, and it is increasingly difficult to find them in original condition.

This guitar has a deep woody tone for a mahogany instrument and would be an excellent choice for live or recording work.

Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

Very nice condition overall; all original except replaced pickguard. Some general checking and light play wear, very well repaired pickguard crack, and soundhole edge cracks are barely noticeable. Added strap pin to heelblock over neck, otherwise original.

A very nice 1960's guitar with original HSC.
