C. F. Martin 2-15 Model Carved Top Mandolin (1964), made in Nazareth, PA, sunburst top, shaded maple back and sides finish, maple back, sides and neck; spruce top, original soft shell case.

A very nice example of a 1960's Martin carved top mandolin, a much overlooked instrument. Martin offered several styles of carved mandolin starting in 1930 but by the 1950's only the 2-15 remained. Spectacular flame maple back and neck...Martin had little use for maple in the 1960's and built this relatively plain mandolin with wood that Gibson would have gladly saved for an F-5! These have a more delicate tone than a typical Gibson but are quite useful for a number of musical styles. A very good-playing and sounding mandolin with its own character.

Overall length is 26 1/4 in. (66.7 cm.), 10 1/16 in. (25.6 cm.) wide, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 13 7/8 in. (352 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/8 in. (29 mm.).

All original and extremely clean condition, with original soft case. Excellent + Condition.
