C. F. Martin 000-42 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2021), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 2493617, natural finish, Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
The 000-42 is one of Martin's most beautiful designs, a top-end classic in the traditional pre-war style. The narrow-waisted 000 body trimmed on all top surfaces with exquisite pearl and abalone, with delicate shaped abalone inlay in the bound ebony fingerboard and headstock. The body has East Indian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce scalloped X-braced top and the traditional hand-fit dovetail neck joint. Martin calls this round-backed neck their modified low-oval style with a narrow taper.
The Grover open geared tuners are gold plated. The entire guitar is trimmed out with antique white binding, with the polished gloss finish is applied thinner than many modern instruments. This is a wonderful guitar, one of the best sounding "off the shelf" modern Martins we have had with a rich and complex tone. And it sure looks sharp too!
Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 15 3/16 in. (38.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 7/8 in. (632 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This iridescent pearl-trimmed beauty appears hardly used at all, showing just light handling marks and no damage or repair. It plays perfectly and sounds fabulous, with a powerful and beautifully well-balanced tone that sings either fingerstyle or strummed. It is housed in the burgundy lined original hard case with the Martin care & feeding booklet included. Near Mint Condition.
