Item #6824

C. F. Martin 000-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1958), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 160828, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, molded black plastic hard shell case.

Overall length is 39 7/8 in. (101.3 cm.), 15 1/16 in. (38.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This guitar has some well-executed repair work but remains quite clean overall, mostly original and a very fine player. There is an old overspray to the top and back, in traditional lacquer. There is a fairly small patched in area of newer spruce on the edge of the lower bass bout, very cleanly done and well matched. The rest of the finish appears original, with some light average wear. There is one neatly sealed crack behind the bridge off the A string and a small typical pickguard crack, re-inforced from below. An area on the back in the upper bass bout/waist region shows a fairly major repair, cleanly executed but noticeable. The rosewood bridge is original with good height and there looks to have been a well-executed neckset some time back. This is a fairly bright sounding 000, an excellent fingerpicking instrument and all around sweet guitar. Excellent - Condition.
