Item #6519
C. F. Martin 00-21 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1928), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, Brazlilan rosewood back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, hard shell case.
Overall length is 38 1/2 in. (97.8 cm.), 14 1/4 in. (36.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.). Overall a nice old 1920's survivor with some play wear and repair but a truly excellent player with an exceptionally great sound. The back and sides have an old thin overfinish, while the top and neck are still the undisturbed original lacquer. There are several back grain cracks that have been solidly sealed up but have no additional touch up so are still visible. The top has one old grain split behind the bridge on the treble side, cleanly sealed with no overfinish. There are no other cracks; the bridge appears to have been reglued long ago, and there is patched evidence of an old Harmony style tailpiece visible on the rim. The guitar plays extremely well, the original bar frets show only minimal wear. We can't say enough about the sound of this guitar-it is truly from the earliest era of steel string Martins and rings forever! Overall Excellent - Condition.
