C. F. Martin 00-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1947), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, Brazillian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, original brown hard shell case.
1947 seems to be our yearat least as far as Martin Guitars are concerned! We've turned up a number of excellent sounding 1947 Martin flat tops over the last few years, and here's another one. This 00-18 dates to late '47 and is in well-played condition with the evidence of a previous D'Armond pickup installation, but is a fine playing and otherwise original guitar.
Overall length is 39 3/8 in. (100 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar has had a neckset and new saddle, and there are several small patched holes in the top and rim from a 1950's D'Armond pickup control box and jack installation. There is overall finish wear, and several repaired top cracks. Bridge, bridgeplate, tuners, pickguard, and finish are original.
It plays perfectly and sounds fantastic, with a big rich tone for a 00 sized mahogany guitar. Includes a wonderful original brown Lifton hard case. Very Good + Condition.
