Item #3081
C. F. Martin 00-17 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1956), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard.
A nice little mahogany Martin from late 1956, with the typical crisp yet warm sound these guitars are well known for. Original individual Waverly tuners with plastic buttons and tortoise celluloid pickguard, typical Martin features for the mid-50's.
These mahogany small-body guitars have a distinctive ringing tone and are excellent fingerpickers as well as a good all-around choice in a vintage Martin on a lower budget.
Overall length is 39 1/2 in. (100.3 cm.), 14 1/4 in. (36.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).
Some noticeable overspray on the back with several repaired cracks; one repaired top crack and replaced bridge. Some possible overspray on top and sides, but less obvious than back.
Plays and sounds very well -- a good gigging Martin.
