Item #4819
C. F. Martin 0-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1943), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, spruce top, mahogany back and sides, black tolex hard shell case.
Overall length is 38 1/2 in. (97.8 cm.), 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/16 in. (10.6 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This is a lovely and beautiful-sounding wartime 0-18, with an amazingly strong voice for such a small guitar! There are some small scratches and dings overall, but the finish is extremely well preserved for a guitar of this age with only minimal pickwear. There are no major changes or repairs; one small repaired grain crack on the top of the bridge is the only notable wood issue. The top has a slight bulge behind the bridge, not atypical on these lightly-braced instruments and completely stable. The bridge has not been cut down, there appears to have been a very clean neckset done some time back. A very fine example and a great playing and very toneful guitar. Very Good + Condition.
