Bacon Grand Concert Model 5 String Banjo, c. 1918, made in Groton CT, natural finish, laminated maple neck and rim; ebony fingerboard.

A very good-sounding but cosmetically modified Bacon 5-string from the pre-B&D era. The Grand Concert has a chambered rim and tone ring combination resulting in a distinctive sound. A very fancy instrument and an excellent player.
 
Overall length is 36 7/8 in. (93.7 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter head, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/4 in. (667 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.).

Replacement fingerboard and inlays. Modified headstock inlay design with extra engraved pieces. Fully repaired hairline carck on back of neck under finish extending 2" along overlay strip. Overall Very Good + Condition.
