Bacon Blue Ribbon Conversion Model 5 String Banjo, c. 1923, made in Groton CT, natural finish, laminated maple neck and rim, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
Overall length is 37 1/2 in. (95.2 cm.), 11 1/2 in. (29.2 cm.) diameter head, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/2 in. (673 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.).
An original Bacon nicely converted to 5-string format. Rim is original, and neck is a very good copy in the correct Bacon style using the original headstock facing with a reproduction fingerboard. Equipped with Planet tuners including geared 5th string, all original rim hardware including the unusual period tailpiece. A very nice-playing and sounding banjo. Excellent Condition.
