Harmony H-81 Model Electric Tenor Banjo, c. 1954, made in Chicago, bronze lacquer finish, maple body, spruce top; maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original two-tone chipboard case.
Overall length is 33 1/2 in. (85.1 cm.), 11 3/8 in. (28.9 cm.) diameter, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 3/4 in. (578 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.).
All original. Pretty clean overall except for some fairly heavy strumwear on the top near the neck joint. One sealed grain crack on the spruce top; no other damage or repair. The original sliding rubber mute built into the bridge is still functional, making this one of the funkiest sounding instruments ever! Pretty unique, complete with the original, very '50s-looking chip case. Excellent - Condition.
