Item #6467
Harmony Airline Model 7209 Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar, c. 1961, made in Chicago, sunburst top, shaded maple back and sides finish, laminated maple body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original blond 2-tone chipboard case.
The Airline Model 7209 is about the rarest and coolest variant on the Stratotone/Roy Smeck semi-solid series from Harmony. This is the only 3-pickup variation on the design making for some unique sonic options; it is also a striking looking guitar with a unique multi-pointed pickguard and a nice subtle yellow-black sunburst finish. One of the most interesting of Harmony's sub-brand variants, and a great instrument as well!
Overall length is 38 3/8 in. (97.5 cm.), 13 1/16 in. (33.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 15/16 in. (4.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). A superb example of this fairly rare Harmony-made guitar. Apart from some fairly minor "curly-cord burn" to the back (where the neoprene-covered cord was left under the guitar and melted the lacquer slightly) and some light finish loss to the headstock edges this instrument gives very little evidence of it's 50+ years on earth. A really cool looking and sounding guitar, and a good player as wellcomplete with the original 2-tone case. Excellent - Condition.
