Eko Violin Bass Model 995 Model Electric Bass Guitar (1966), made in Recanati, Italy, sunburst polyester finish, laminated maple body, spruce top, laminated maple neck with ebony fingerboard, original grey hard shell case.

The Eko model 995 is one of the more enduring 1960's oddball bass designs and an American garage band favorite (although of course made in Italy!). For some reason although distributed out of the upper Midwest this Hofner-inspired model was extremely popular in Los Angeles around 1965-6- this particular style bass was used by used by Love, the Standells, the Music Machine, the Grass Roots, Doug Luban (the Doors session bassist) and many others. This example is very well preserved with transitional 1966 features including the newer style pickups and bridge combined with the older style lever selector switch. A very cool bass and a bonafide 60's Garage Band classic!

Overall length is 44 1/2 in. (113 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 30 in. (762 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). This bass is clean overall with all original finish and hardware. There is very little of the heavy finish checking these Italian-made instruments are prone to. There is one notable chip on the bass side face of the headstock and some corrosion to the tuner buttons; the only major alteration is the jack area has been re-inforced with a round metal plate added on the outside. An excellent player; very good neck and frets. Includes the fairly rare original rectangulsr HSC. Excellent Condition.
