Eko Kadett Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar, c. 1967, made in Recanati, Italy, red/black sunburst Polyester finish, hardwood body, laminated maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, gig bag case.

An interesting and somewhat unusual looking bass from the Italian Eko factory, who produced many instruments in the 1960's both conventional and eccentric-including most of the Vox line. The Kadett series was a good-quality line of house-branded student instruments with oddly squared-off cutaway bouts; the bass appears to be one of the rarer variants. With two well-cited pickups and a thin but fairly chunky-feeling neck the Kadett Bass is quite functional and fun to play. The controls are simple but somewhat eccentric with an on-off toggle for each pickup on the lower bout and a recessed master tone and volume roller knobs mounted above the pickups. Neat, sweet and surprisingly functional!

Overall length is 42 1/2 in. (108 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/16 in. (3.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 30 in. (762 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). All original, no repairs or alterations. There is some typical finish checking and scrapes and a couple of deep chips on the edges. The black pigment in the "Kadett" pickguard logo is mostly gone and there is a long scratch in the guard in that area. A nice playing, easy to handle bass with a distinctive feel and sound. Very Good + Condition.
