vega-style-n-tenor-banjo-1924-8429
Vega Style N Tenor Banjo (1924)
Vega Style N Model Tenor Banjo (1924), made in Boston, Mass., natural mahogany finish, laminated maple and mahogany rim, mahogany neck with ebonized fingerboard, black chipboard case.

This Vega is a fine-sounding early-pattern student tenor banjo. The Style N is a basic openback short scale instrument, with the typical Vega quality construction but no ornament whatsoever -- rather like the Martin Style 17 guitars of the same period. This short neck 17-fret instrument is the more archaic style of four-string that would be eventually phased out in the later 1920s, except as a beginner's banjo. This superbly well-preserved Style N remains an excellent vintage choice for a student banjoist, or anyone preferring a shorter scale tenor instrument with a big sound for Irish or standard playing.

Overall length is 30 3/4 in. (78.1 cm.), 10 15/16 in. (27.8 cm.) diameter head, and 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 19 3/4 in. (502 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.).

This little banjo remains ALL original, down to the Vega-branded head. There is some light wear overall and dirt on the head, but really this instrument has not seen a lot of use in nearly 100 years! Still an excellent learner's Tenor banjo; very easy to play with a very pleasant sound. Excellent Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_2f9cffbf-b090-4a3d-887f-c90096fa8f24.jpg?v=1774334974
