These were made under many brand names; this one carries Slingerland's own \"MayBell\" logo on the headstock and the company logo on the dowel as well. This simple but sturdy little banjo uke is typical of Slingerland's style, with a laminated maple rim and wire tone ring. The maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot markers, and an ebony headpiece. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis type of banjo uke was extremely popular during the \"uke fad\" of the 1920's, played by students and non-professional music makers everywhere, and are still a fine bargain in a 1920's instrument.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOverall length is 20 1\/2 in. (52.1 cm.), 7 in. (17.8 cm.) diameter head, and 2 1\/2 in. (6.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 13 7\/8 in. (352 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1\/4 in. (32 mm.). \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAll original except tuner buttons appear later (c. 1950's) and bridge is recent. Plays and sounds very well.
