The main difference from earlier examples is the use of molded plastic plates in place of metal to cover the body cavities and the position of the controls.

It carries the famous 1 1/2" magnet Rickenbacker horseshoe pickup with tone and volume knobs and the output jack all mounted on the treble side of the body. The strings run through the body and the headstock carries the early-style "Rickenbacher Electro" logo plate. Post-war examples are still fine guitars, but have a number of different features and a somewhat thinner sound.

These pre-war Bakelite Rickenbacker guitars are generally considered the finest-sounding lap steel guitars ever made. The exceptional horseshoe pickup is mounted with side flanges adjustable for height with knurled knobs and features a coil wrapped in black cloth-covered wire. The volume and tone pots are equipped with molded black plastic knobs and all electronics appear untouched.

The body is marked below the integral molded bridge with the original 1932 patent number, while the pickup flanges carry the later 1937 patent number for the horseshoe magnet design. This instrument comes complete with its original deluxe hard-shell case with vibrant green plush lining and a silk banner reading "Rickenbacker Electro Guitar" inside the top. This is simply a fabulous example!

Overall length is 30 in. (76.2 cm.), 9 1/2 in. (24.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 1/2 in. (572 mm.). Width of nut is 2 1/8 in. (54 mm.).

Extremely fine condition overallhardly any wear, and both the plastic and metal surfaces are still clean and shiny. There is a small repaired crack to the top of the lower bass side coverplate and the tuner buttons appear to have possibly been replaced long ago. There are some very small pickmarks to the body near the waist. Apart from these, the instrument truly appears near mint.

Includes an original rectangular HSC also in exceptionally good condition and an original cord.
