The natural-finish top is solid X-braced spruce, the back and sides sunburst maple. Every edge is multi-bound in celluloid and the fingerboard carries pearloid block inlay. The oversize headstock has a decorative inlay in a somewhat random motif and a large Kay logo.

This is a great hillbilly rhythm guitar-we call it "the poor man's J-200" and a nice example of the Chicago guitarmaker's best post-WWII best work.

Overall length is 43 in. (109.2 cm.), 17 1/4 in. (43.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 3/4 in. (654 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

All original with some average finish wear overall, evidence of some very enthusiastic strumming near the soundhole and general nicks and dings. The original bridge has been cut down somewhat and there is a jackhole in the lower side, but overall this is a good example of this seldom-seen guitar. Very Good + Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_3eb13b1d-78a4-4a9c-a4cc-59dcb5306d36.jpg?v=1774331975
