guild-f-30-nt-flat-top-acoustic-guitar-1965-7463
Guild F-30-NT Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1965)
Guild F-30-NT Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1965), made in Hoboken, NJ, serial # 44652, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.

The often very fine sounding Guild flattops of the 1960's are surprisingly hard to find these days, despite being a popular choice in their day. This is a 1965 natural-top F-30, the midline, mid-size model in Guild's flat top line. The F-30 stood in the company's line above the all mahogany M-20 (famously regarded as the "Nick Drake" guitar) and F-20, the same size and shape with a spruce top. The somewhat larger F-30 is generally similar to a Martin 000, and makes a smooth finger-or-flatpicking guitar with a vibrant midrange sound which works equally well as a strummed chord machine. This is an extremely well-built and responsive guitar, much lighter than Rhode-Island made 1970's Guilds and easily on par-or better- compared with similar size Martin or Gibson offerings from the same era.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 15 1/4 in. (38.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This F-30 is in very fine condition overall and a truly excellent player but shows signs of some neck/headstock work in the past. The back of the headstock shows a darker overspray down over the volute, with the serial number at the top still being visible but somewhat obscured. We do not see any visible signs of old damage-even under blacklight examination- but must assume some sort of repair was performed there. Whatever was dome was to a very high standard and does not affect play at all. The bridge top been cleanly lowered as is common with many of these, and the bridge reglued as well. The guitar does not show signs of extensive use; the finish is beautifully preserved with only minor signs of wear, and remains bright and unfaded. The plastic headstock veneer has shrunken and pulled up slightly as is also common with these but has less lifting than many. Overall one of the cleanest of these we have had; and fine playing, and a very good sounding F-30 as well. Overall Very Good + Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_5610a748-f46c-4f9f-9dcc-ae421eb8bab5.jpg?v=1774332909
