The original dowelstick has been replaced by a second co-ordinator rod (the lower rod is original), converting the banjo to a 1924-spec. setup. The nut is replaced and the tuners are 1960's Grover Rotomatics. All hooks, nuts, tailpiece, and other hardware are original to the rim, including the lovely grained ivoroid pickguard. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe trapdoor is fully functional; the spring mechanism has been replaced with older small hinges. While not a fully original TB-4, this instrument has a good plunky old-time sound, and is well set up with an older plastic head. With the short 19\" scale length this is a very good instrument for single-note ragtime and Irish styles, quite convenient for the mandolin as well as banjo enthusiast. A solid Gibson Trapdoor for gigging or recording purposes.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOverall length is 29 in. (73.7 cm.), 10 5\/8 in. (27 cm.) diameter head, and 2 7\/8 in. (7.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 19 in. (483 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1\/4 in. (32 mm.). \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eGood playing condition with light general playing wear; an area of headstock veneer was re-glued during the Groverization process but looks OK. Generally a good player's piece.
