gibson-l-1-flat-top-acoustic-guitar-1926-3803
Gibson L-1 Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1926)
Gibson L-1 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1926), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, original black soft shell case.

A particulary early, and fancy, version of Gibson's first serious flat-top guitar. With a side-bound fingerboard, triple binding top and back, and engraved tuner plates, this L-1 is a considerably more upscale guitar for its time than most other period Gibson flat-tops. The body is a fine grade of Mahogany with a dark natural finish while the spruce top is finished natural, not the deeper amber of many L-1's. This seldom seen variation of the model is shown in the 1926 catalog, and disappears soon after. This guitar is very original, including tuners, celluloid bridgepins, and fitted soft shell case.

Overall length is 37 15/16 in. (96.4 cm.), 13 13/16 in. (35.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 1/4 in. (616 mm.). Width of nut is 1 7/8 in. (48 mm.).

Appears all original and extremely well-preserved; two very small back cracks and bridge taken down cleanly. Some minor dings, but overall a particularly nice example of a rare early Gibson. Excellent Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_0f0e70b1-e94a-4eff-8133-2dba382d32a6.jpg?v=1774332317
