gibson-l-0-flat-top-acoustic-guitar-1939-3910
Gibson L-0 Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1939)
Gibson L-0 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1939, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, black lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, black soft shell case.

The L-00/L-0 series remain some of Gibson's most popular 1930s guitars, then and now. This lovely L-0 was the bottom of the flat-top line just before WWII, but still a great value in sound! Although this guitar's factory order number is illegible, the black finish with celluloid binding top and back, "firestripe" tortoise celluloid pickguard, and a three-ply soundhole ring are features typical for 1939. With a big "V" neck and a huge, smooth tone, this is one of the best-sounding L-0/L-00s we have had...and that's saying a lot!

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/8 in. (11.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

This is a very nice example of a pre-war Gibson L-0; these are often found today with extensive wear, and many times much-repaired. This one is not mint, but sharper than usual! It remains in original condition except for repro tuners and a slightly cut-down and smoothed out bridge. The finish is cleaner than we usually see with some checking and small dings overall. Only a few minor crack repairs, mostly on the back. An excellent player and a lovely example of the Ebony L-0 of the just pre-WWII period. Excellent Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_8a130c4d-e8dc-47df-9543-c6bac2280a2c.jpg?v=1774333749
