gibson-l-0-flat-top-acoustic-guitar-1937-7260
Gibson L-0 Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1937)
Gibson L-0 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1937), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 1215C-57 (FON), black lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

The 1937 L-0 stands as a fine example of Gibson's most popular Depression era flat-top guitars, both then and now. While this guitar was at the bottom of the flat top line this year it still offered a great value in sound! The entire guitar is finished in gleaming black lacquer with celluloid binding around the top edge only, ornamented with a "firestripe" tortoise celluloid pickguard and a three-ply white/black/white soundhole ring. The neck has the typical the "V" 1930's profile with an unbound rosewood fingerboard. The headstock carries only a white paint "Gibson" logo. This model was a standard of the day, a professional grade guitar at a price affordable to blues players, Hillbilly string bands and many other itinerant musicians, as well as Gibson's intended student customers. Each one of these guitars has its own character and this one is quite powerful with a lot of punch and volume while retaining a smooth midrange and a substantial helping of high end.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/8 in. (11.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This guitar remains all original with some light general wear, and only minor repairs. There is some light pick wear to the soundhole rim and some light scratches, dings and dents overall, but the finish retains an excellent patina. The bridge itself is original, still covered in black lacquer with what appear to be the original pins and saddle, which has been lowered slightly and polished out. Internally the guitar is very original; the top center seam has been resealed as has one grain crack to the back. The nickel plated strip tuners with white composite buttons are in good shape and work as well as they ever did. The guitar has just been refretted with period correct wire making for lovely player, better preserved than many; includes a more recent HSC. Excellent - Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_2c80b95b-4e31-4e01-ab45-1ba7504392ac.jpg?v=1774335156
