This is a very comfortable guitar with a sleek, round neck and a big warm sound. This 1959 example is fitted with Gibson's early adjustable bridge with a wooden saddle and the larger pickguard introduced after 1955. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe J-50 is essentially the same instrument as the J-45 with a natural finish and an extra layer of top binding. Over the years they have proven are a bit rarer (they cost slightly more) than that familiar sunburst-top favorite. The J-50 was favored by Texas blues legend Lightnin' Hopkins, among many others!\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOverall length is 40 1\/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 5\/16 in. (41.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15\/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3\/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11\/16 in. (43 mm.). A very good sounding, great playing guitar. The neck has been reset with plenty of angle some time back with visible clear touch-up around the heel and fingerboard tongue; some additional touch up to top finish in various places including around pickguard edges. Otherwise all original with not a lot of wear; great '59 neck, original adjustable bridge with rosewood saddle fully intact and functional. One of the best sounding late-50's slope-shoulder Gibson Jumbos we have had, an excellent player's example.
