This is a very just-post WWII J-45 has a big round neck profile, slightly slimmed from wartime specs with a truss rod installed. These later 1940's Gibson jumbo guitars are generally spectacular sounding instruments, with a big raw sound that can really cut through. This example shows some accumulated wear but remains in fine playing shape, with typical period features including the straight rosewood bridge, small tortoise celluloid pickguard, flat plate strip tuners and gold decal Gibson script logo. We always love the J-45's from this period, they really exemplify the best of Gibson's "workingman's jumbo" with no frills but plenty of tonal muscle.

Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This guitar is very original and in excellent structural condition with no excessive play wear but the finish has some unusual stippling marks, probably from being left near a fire or some other heat source at some point. This is most noticeable on the upper bout side, some on the neck, back and the headstock, which has been polished out but retains a dimly cratered appearance. There are a couple of decent sized spots on the back of what looks like vinyl strap burn but could be related to the same source. The rest of the guitar shows only light typical finish checking (mostly on the top) and small areas of wear, with no large pickwear spots and amazingly NO cracks. The bridge has been reglued (solidly but not as neatly as we might prefer) and a nicely done neckset is evident. This is a very fine playing guitar with a big and fairly bright sound, an excellent rhythm guitar and a cracking fingerpicking blues machine as well. Very Good + Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_c3c75c45-718d-4c79-a5cd-c4e687e53472.jpg?v=1774332771
