gibson-es-335t-semi-hollow-body-electric-guitar-1963-4475
Gibson ES-335T Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1963)
Gibson ES-335T Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1963), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 99449, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

This is a very fine example of an early '60s ES-335TD, one of Gibson's all-time classic designs. This guitar shows specifically late '62-early '63 features: a relatively dark brown-amber sunburst finish, pearloid block markers on the bound fingerboard, and a stop tailpiece.

This particular guitar originally came factory equipped with a Bigsby B-7 (which is included), so a "Custom Made" engraved plaque was pinned over the stop tailpiece holes; this piece is also included. The guitar is currently set up with a period correct stoptail as many players prefer, but no irreversible alterations were required. The original ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles is also included but is not currently mounted on the guitar; there is a modern metal-saddle reproduction in place currently.

The pickups are the heart of this semi-solid guitar: one PAF (in the bridge position) and one Pat # Humbucking by the fingerboard which help this 335 achieve a spectacular singing sound. The neck profile is slim but fairly round at the lower frets, flattening out farther up more like an early '60s style and feels effortlessly comfortable.

The guitar is still housed in its original black case with yellow plush lining; quite solid, with some wear on the lower edge. This is a wonderful-playing instrument and a fine reminder of why so many players from numerous different musical genres have always loved these guitars!

Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 15 15/16 in. (40.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a very beautiful original guitar. The vibrant, unfaded sunburst finish has some very light checking, and a few scrapes and dings here and there. The only significant wear is just on the sides of the neck, where some finish is worn away from play.

The guitar has been expertly refretted, and set up for perfect playability. The only internal alteration we can see is a newer shielded ground wire. There are the two typical screw holes from the Bigsby in the top that have not been filled or retouched.

The guitar could easily be restored to its factory-original Bigsby-equipped configuration if desired; all the original fittings are included. All-in-all a splendid example of an early '60s 335. Lighter than some and a wonderful-playing and sounding guitar. Excellent Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_1decc853-67b8-40cc-9229-e1f50fe493d8.jpg?v=1774333840
