This model has a 16" wide, non-cutaway hollow body of laminated maple with a single P-90 pickup. The tailpiece is an off-the-rack part seen in this period and the tuners are Kluson Deluxes. The knobs are the later 1950s gold-backed clear plastic style with numbers, and the headstock sports the post-war "Gibson" logo decal.

This instrument has a lot of wear but remains a fine playing and sounding guitar. Although marketed as a student model, the ES-125 remains fully functional as a professional quality instrument; it is often still seen with players of many styles.

Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a real veteran guitar -- not a collector's piece, but a player's guitar par excellence. It has obviously had a long career already, played in many a smoky club or bar, but never seriously damaged or altered -- just used. The finish has wear all over, and a distinctly "smoked" patina; even the body binding is darkened to a brown shade. The finish is almost completely worn off of the back of the neck and the body shows numerous dings, dents, and scrapes. There is a small hole in the heel for a strap button.

All the hardware is original except for a missing pickguard and proper repro Kluson tuners, and small mounting holes remain for a set of replacements now gone. With a recent refret, this is an excellent player, ready for another generation of gigging -- though these days folks don't smoke like they used to! Overall Very Good + Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_c5616b1d-aa26-4e6f-8c4e-eed254b619ac.jpg?v=1774333341
