gibson-eb-1-solid-body-electric-bass-guitar-1956-2622
Gibson EB-1 Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1956)
Gibson EB-1 Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1956), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, brown original hard shell case.

Just about the coolest electric bass ever designedand one of the most eccentric! The "Gibson Electric Bass" (The EB-1 name was not used until 1958, when the EB-2 debuted), first issued in 1953, is one of the earliest solidbody basses, and owes nothing but general concept to the slightly earlier (late 1951) Fender Precision.

These original EB-1's are the clearest sounding of the 30" scale Gibson bassesthe large brown-covered pickup is a single coil (the huge coil is mounted on its side) and has more mid/high content than the 1958 and later humbucking versions.

A neat historic piece and still a very good player's bass.

Overall length is 44 1/4 in. (112.4 cm.), 11 1/4 in. (28.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 30 1/2 in. (775 mm.).

A decent amount of honest playwear but still very attractive; all original parts except jack plate.

Includes the original brown HSC with shocking pink lining, somewhat battered externally but fully functional. A great-playing and sounding example. Very Good + Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_d531f359-7bd4-4879-b83b-ee4a6480d96a.jpg?v=1774331445
