(22.9 cm.) in depth at deepest point. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis is a cool if rather well-worn example of an early 1956 big-box Princeton, which by this point had grown into a much larger unit than its earlier ancestors. The tube chart code is \"FL\", indicating assembly in December that year. This amp has been altered long ago to mount a 10\" speaker instead of the original 8\", taking advantage of its more spacious cabinet. That speaker is a 1959-dated Jensen, which was reconed not long ago. This modification gives the amp a somewhat beefier tone than the original 8\", while the three-tube layout (5Y3,6V6,12AX7) makes for a sweetly overdriven, airier tone that can get very raucous when pushed. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eExternally, the tweed covering on this amp is a bit scruffy with some staining in the lower regions and fraying at the seams. Internally, the amp is still well-preserved, recently serviced with a new 3-prong cord and some light cap work. The chrome control plate has some light corrosion but is cleaner than many with the graphics largely intact. The handle is a modern replacement. This combination of this chassis with a 10\" speaker is not often encountered, and although modified this is still a superb amplifier; a very hot little number when the twin chicken heads are rolled up.
