fender-champ-5f1-tube-amplifier-1959-9491
Fender Champ 5F1 Tube Amplifier (1959)
Fender Champ 5F1 Model Tube Amplifier (1959), made in Fullerton, California, serial # C10806, tweed fabric covering finish.

Height is 11 3/4 in. (29.8 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.) width, and 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm.) deep.

This is a nicely preserved example of the classic 1959 tweed Fender Champ, looking used but not too heavily worn. It has chassis and tube-chart ink-stamps "IC" indicating it was wired up in March of 1959. It retains the original transformers, a Triad stamped #106 for the output and a Schumacher power transformer coded 606925. The single pot is marked 304-919 and the original Oxford speaker is dated the 16th week of 1959, recently expertly reconed by Weber.

This amp has just been serviced and is sounding great; this included a grounded 3-prong cord, standard filter cap job with replaced electrolytics, cleaned sockets, pots, and jacks, and a re-biasing to spec. No circuit changes have been made, and the tubes are period except for a JJ preamp. Externally the tweed is relatively nice, a bit dirty overall with some typical worn areas along the seams and edges and a few stained spots. The original leather handle is still intact with some wear; the faceplate shows only some very light scuffing with crisp and well-preserved stenciled graphics. Not crazy clean, not too beat up, simply another great-sounding late '50s tweed Champ, a perennial favorite amp -- small in size but a monster in tone! Excellent Condition.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0672/8702/3756/files/01_19959421-c1eb-4810-bb28-611721a10d5b.jpg?v=1774336358
