This is a roundneck Style 55 with an original high nut for Hawaiian play, and appears unaltered since new. The coverplate is marked \"Pat. Pend.\", tuners are deluxe engraved Waverly strips (as used on National Tricones), and there is no serial number. These first Dobros, made soon after company founder John Dopyera's split from the National company, are very high quality instruments compared to the Depression-era examples that follow.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOverall length is 38 3\/8 in. (97.5 cm.), 14 1\/8 in. (35.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1\/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3\/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 2 in.
